2024 Recap and a look forward to 2025

MephHeads, crikey we flew through another year! As per usual there’s been plenty of trials and tribulations, but most importantly a bunch of progress and some beautiful highlights along the way!

Awards ‘n’ ting!

As the Autoflower scene is picking up steam, more events are popping up around the globe and when we can sneak out of the grow room or sneakily dip away from Zoom calls it’s been a proper pleasure to get out there, rub shoulders with some amazing MephHeads and nicely nicely get a little recognition here and there.

In February, we flew to LA to attend the American Autoflower Cup, meeting some of our US crew for the first time ever in 3D. We scooped Best Breeder and second place in the Sativa category for Old School Mango Haze.

Shortly after in March, we attended Our 12th (?) (It’s been far too many) Spannabis’ and also went through to the Autoflower World Cup where we again picked up Best Breeder for the second year in a row, along with second place in the Sativa category for Dosidelirium.

Please mark your calendars for the above events in 2025 as we’ll be there again, AWC in March and this time AAC in April, we shall also be adding a cheeky visit to Mary Jane Berlin in June.

Releases and New Drop Model

The last few years we’ve been playing catchup on our breeding cycles and didn’t have too many thoroughbred releases, now we’re up to speed we’ve been able to offer up a lot of strains we’ve had for years in development thick and fast. We’ve paired this with a new drop model of the main strain with limited edition hybrids of the new strain to accompany it.

2024 saw Artisanal releases of Walter White BX1, Pigletta’s Purple Haze, Old School Mango Haze, Dosidelirium, MephistOreoz, Appletizer and a Reserva release of Ravenberry.

2025 will be much of the same, we’ve tee’d up Old School Blues for a January release, to be followed by a Valentine’s Day week drop of the much anticipated new Artisanal School Yard Crush. We currently also have testers out in the wild of 505 Headbanger and Mango Runtz - which are pencilled in for March and April releases respectively.

An Ode to Illuminautos

After creating our illuminautos line with a bornt day sometime in 2015 with a first release date in early 2016, we started humbly with #1 - SODK x Fantasmo Express and are finishing up 84 hybrids later with #85 Yogi’s Stash - HubbaBubbaHaze x Grizzly Crinkle.

However, over the 12 years we’ve been working on Mephisto and running the brand, the lines we offer and the reasoning behind each line, in certain cases began to blur, so it was time to refuckulate everything to make better sense in our brain compartments. [And to make things a little easier for our staff and site]

These will cease to be sold by ourselves directly to you guys. However, whatever stock remains will be offered to distributors.

We are working on deploying an ‘Archived Strain’ section on our site to still be able to obtain the critical info, however, we would also recommend some good out copy and paste to notes or screenshots if you’re about to grow these and need the strain-description for reference.

Going forward it will be:

✅Freebies: F1 crosses between any of a catalogue strains - for shits, giggles, fire and for the culture. Generally, small quantities which change out monthly.

✅Originals: The foundation of our Mephisto Genetics catalogue. Strains developed from pre-2012 to 2015, classics we adore, everything at F7 or higher, priced fairly, in good stock.

✅Artisanals: If Originals were the 2.0 of autoflowers, Artisanals are the 3.0, our highest quality, equally worked IBLs developed in modest batches but here for the long term.

✅Reservas: F1 hybrids so good and loved by the community that we work them to F3/F4 to stabilize and give people who might have missed the F1 version a chance to get in on the action.

✅New style Limited editions: Extremely small batch selections, pollinating less than a handful of plants to create tasty combinations to serve up alongside each new artisanal strain that drops.

✅Medicinal: A collection we’ve slowly expanded and have relished playing more with, now including and to feature in the not-too-distant future, Full CBD, 1:1 ratios

Yurup!

In June after a massive hiatus [sorry 🥲], we were finally able to solve our red tape import/export headaches. We wanted you back as much as a pre-Brexit Gary Barlow + Co.

We’ve been playing catchup to get the full range of beans available, and to get the drops in sync with the other regional stores but 2025 is looking like it will be pretty seamless with those and we’ll continue striving to give our European brethren the same wonderful MG experience those in other parts of the world have been getting for time.

Mephisto-Hub

2024 saw us delve into the world of YouTube, starting our own channel with a concerted effort to create dedicated Mephisto content.

We now have over 70 videos all by our very own Jimbo, ranging from tutorials to support blog articles to Seed to Harvest showcases. The production value is as high as we recommend you to be to really enjoy them! Come give us a watch and subscribe to see more interesting content hit the channel through 2025.

Website Development

The website is constantly evolving to create a richer experience for you guys and make it a place you can spend more time. ‘24 saw a more streamlined customer service system integrated, Brad has put more hours than you’d like to know into rejigging our filtering system to give more unique options to help you narrow down your strain choices, this will be further expanded next year with some fresh iconography to make strain descriptions more easily digestible, we’ll have a friends of Mephisto section along with an archived seed section so even if we’re no longer selling a certain strain all the pertinent info will still be there for your perusing pleasure.

Projected Growth

This year we haven’t rested on our laurels when it comes to breeding, Mitch and Tim have completed two large R&D runs in Spain making in the region of 50 prospective project crosses to further explore down the line, ranging from landrace sativa’s like Acapulco Gold, to more modern hybrids with the idea to expand the flavour profiles in the catalogue to include Pineapple and Cherry, we’ve also dabbled in strains for washing and some freaky freaky mutant lines.

We’re already progressing strains from the first run with Terrance in Canada getting the F1’s rolling, including MAC V2, Pineapple Gummies and Miracle Glue! Be sure to peep Mitch’s IG from time to time to get a look in as it’s happening.

Community Service

This year we’ve been more active than ever with our man Stan running several competitions, including grow off’s for Ravenberry, MephistOreoz and Appletizer. Although the coolest was the Cannabonsai competition which led to some really creative entries and expert skills in autoflower plant management! We’ll have lots more to come in 2025 including some special giveaways when we hit 69k subs on the subreddit!

The Mephisto Discord channel was also launched in ‘24 and it’s really popping off, we’d implore you to go take a look.

Festive downtime

We’ve just completed our Secret Santa promo and all stores are now closed until January 6th.

You can still place orders if you wish, however, nothing will ship out until that date. (EU orders will start shipping January 13th.)

Customer service inquiries will be replied to but with a lot less urgency over this break. It’s a small piece of downtime and chance to reset for our staff over an otherwise packed schedule.
